1. Taxpayers' Dollars – please respond by March 2, 2023

Currently the AISD has the highest M&O rate of any ISD in Tarrant County. In February staff did a budget adjustment of close to $1 million to start planning for the paying recapture (“Robin Hood”). How fiscally responsible should the board be with taxpayers' dollars? How high of a priority should fiscal responsibility be? What are your suggestions to be more fiscally responsible?

Board members have a responsible to be transparent with the community and taxpayers to ensure that stakeholders are provided with trustworthy financial data. Trustees have an obligation to be extremely fiscally responsible to taxpayers.

Fiscal responsibilities should be one of the top priorities of a board members.

To be more fiscally responsible, board members should disclose any revised fiscal strategic plan. They should inform taxpayers of reallocation of funds for catastrophic occurrences.

2. Transgender – please respond by March 9, 2023

Which locker rooms/restrooms, etc., should transgender students be using? Should there be a District policy? Why or why not?

Should there be a district policy? Yes. Why or why not? It should be a district policy due to safety and bullying reasons.

3. Teachers' Salaries – please respond by March 16, 2023

Is having the highest teachers' salaries in the north Texas area a good thing? Why or why not?

Yes, it's a good thing for districts to offer high salaries because they attract highly effective teachers who have the ability to use differentiated teaching methods and strategies to help their students succeed academically. Higher salaries attract more educational resources in areas such as technology, tutoring, teacher assistants/para-professionals, and in the field of special education. Lead and seasoned teachers provide mentoring while conducting Professional Learning Communities and other professional development trainings by sharing their expertise and working collaboratively to improve teaching skills and students' academic performance.

4. Citizen Speakers – please respond by March 23, 2023

Currently citizen speakers are given a two minutes to make their points on a subject. Do you feel that is an appropriate amount of time? Why or why not?

I feel that 3-4 minutes is adequate time for citizens to make their point on a topic. Within that time, citizens can emphasize their key points and provide an example or resource for documented support.  This will encourage board members to engage in more in depth discussions with citizens.

5. Communications – please respond by March 30, 2023

If you receive an e-mail from a constituent similar to the top of this webpage [ http://arlspectator.mysite.com/rich_text_83.html ], but concerning an AISD issue and/or problem, will you respond to the constituent? Why or why not? What actions will you take?

As an educator, I only feel comfortable discussing issues that pertain to my area of expertise. If the city council concerns reflect the interest of the students, then the school board will work collaboratively to provide best practices or decisions in the best interest of the students.

6. Issues – please respond by April 6, 2023

Other than selecting a new superintendent, what is the most important issue the board is currently facing? Why? What are your suggestions for addressing this issue?

School Safety is the most important issue the board is currently facing? According to the Washington Post, we've already had 17 school shootings across the country, and in our district alone, at Lamar High School, a 16 year old male student was murdered by gun violence.

Here are my suggestions: We need to increase police officers' presence, ensure that all campuses have metal detectors, and provide magnetic door locks at all schools. We need to add more security cameras and bullet proof glass on all doors and windows around the entire school. We need to get back to the basics and find the root cause as to why students are so angry that they choose gun violence to solve their problems. We need to provide mental health resources and include a warm inviting space in the schools for students who are struggling with life's issues. We need to have weekly discussions to teach students how to deal with bullying, cyberbullying, drugs, and other improper behaviors. We need parents, retirees, veterans, business owners, and community stakeholders to help protect our schools by volunteering to monitor the hallways, watch the security cameras and monitor the school grounds. We need to impress upon the students how vitally important it is to embrace the, If You See Something, Say Something Campaign.

Ms. Davis had signed up to run for City Council District 7 in 2022

1. Sales Tax – please respond by March 3, 2022

In November 2020 voters passed a measure to increase the sales tax another ¼ cent to 8.25% for the funding of an Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Claims supporting this measure included helping small shops recover from the pandemic. Have they performed what was promised? What are your thoughts on the EDC's purpose, effectiveness, and the tax? Why?

 Did not respond.

2. Density – please respond by March 10, 2022

How do you feel about changing commercially zoned properties to multi-family zoned properties? What if the area already contains many, many apartments such as southeast Arlington in the Hwy 360 corridor? How do you feel about RMU (Regional Mixed Use) zoning and its potential 100 units/acre? Why?

Did not respond.

3. Transportation – please respond by March 17, 2022

VIA's funding for the past year has been covered by federal money because of the pandemic. When things return to “normal” funding, let's assume that the Federal Grant will cover approximately 25%. At that time, how should the service level and pricing structure be arranged between the general fund and riders? Why?

Did not respond.

4. Corporate Welfare – please respond by March 24, 2022

The City Council has given away millions of dollars and/or potential revenues to companies to encourage development. At what point has there been enough “encouragement” and the taxpayers, and lowering tax rates, should become a higher priority? Why?

Did not respond.

5. Communications – please respond by March 31, 2022

If a constituent emails you a question or comment on an issue about which you disagree and asks you for a response, will you respond to the constituent? Why or why not?
